Teaching English online to disadvantaged children

Online teaching in progress
  • TEFL certificate or other appropriate teaching qualification required
  • Fluent, native speaker standard English
  • Russian-language speaking
  • At least 3 months commitment
  • A DBS certificate will be required

We support The Orthodox parish in Kondopoga, Karelia in its work with children living in poverty. These children do not have laptops at home so have fallen behind at school during the pandemic. The parish are providing some catch-up lessons but the children need additional support with English lessons.

We are looking for some enthusiastic and patient individuals willing to teach online English lessons to them for around 2 hours a week starting in summer 2023. Volunteers will need to be able to show a real commitment to the work, initiative and a willingness to be flexible.  There are also opportunities to teach the staff English in the future. This will be important to help the management communicate with foreign funders and to raise awareness of their work outside of Russia.
